Nanova Corporation was founded in 1997 by Afzal Hossain and Nasima Parveen to develop the LiquidDVD DVD-Video authoring software.
For those who wondered what's inside a DVD-Video authoring engine, this paper gives the internal architecture of the Nanova LiquidDVD software. In 1997, Nanova was the third company in the industry ever to develop a DVD-Video engine. That's long before Apple Computer purchased the fourth developer company.

In year 2000, Nanova introduced the PhotoDVD technology along with related technologies for storing and displaying photographs on television monitors.

Dr. Afzal Hossain is the President and CEO of Nanova Corporation. Afzal has over 20 years of operational experience in several disciplines - Semiconductors Design, Electronics Design Automation, Software, and Academia. Afzal started his career in 1990 at Intel Corporation in Santa Clara, California. He was a key member of the first generation Pentium Processor design team. Using his own software to a great extent, Afzal taped out the first twenty steppings of the Pentium Processor. Afzal earned two outstanding contribution awards, and a design award for the Pentium works. Later, he became one of first few employees to start the Intel Itanium Processor architecture team. He was a member of the first HP-Intel joint-venture team responsible for the definition of the Itanium Processor. The last position he held at Intel was a Design Manager at Intel-Level One Corporation in San Francisco, where he was responsible for several communications ASIC design teams. Afzal has a Ph.D. Degree in Computer Engineering from Syracuse University of New York. He also has an MBA Degree from California State University, East Bay. |
